St. Louis Cardinals to host 'Pride Night' for LGBTQ community

A portion of the tickets will go towards a scholarship that funds LGBTQ high school seniors in Missouri.

ST. LOUIS - The Cardinals will host their second annual 'Pride Night' on August 17 for LGBTQ friends, family, and allies. The Friday night game will be against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fans will get rainbow STL shirts if they purchase special Pride Night theme tickets.

A portion of the tickets will go towards a scholarship that funds LGBTQ high school seniors in Missouri. The organization's mission is "to acknowledge, affirm, and reward students who demonstrate courage and take a stand for social justice," according to The Missouri Courage Scholarship's website.

Former Cardinals minor league player, Tyler Dunnington who came out as gay in 2016, now serves on the board for the scholarship.

"It is so important to show young people across Missouri, and across the country, that being LGBTQ and participating in sports at all levels is something to celebrate," Dunnington said.
